WHAT ARE YOUR COVID19 PRECAUTIONS ?

All campers, organizers, instructors, and staff at Mar Yacoub Monastryr will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and fully insured.

WILL WE GET A DIPLOMA AT THE END OF THE CAMP?

Campers will be provided with a 10 hours Community Service certificate if they wish to present it to their high schools abroad.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

$500 all inclusive. 50% paid upon signing up and 50% at the check-in on the 16th of July 2023.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

In addition to five blind young teens who are very fluent in Arabic, we are accepting up to 10 teens who are learning Arabic as a foreign language or Arabic speaking teen expats (ages 12-17) who understand Arabic but don’t have the confidence to speak it.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?

Sunscreen and bug repellent for outdoors activities. Yoga mat for daily exercise. Although there will be Wi-Fi on the camp premises, campers will be expected to have a smartphone with 3G service for internet access on field trips.

Will the campers only be allowed to speak in Arabic through out the camp?

Campers will have the choice to research with the language they want but presentations will be in Arabic. Campers will be encouraged to speak in Arabic as much as they can with the help of all the teachers, monitors and instructors.

Will the research and projects be done in Groups or individually?

Campers will be given the choice to research and present in small groups or individually according to their preference. 

How many Adults will be chaperoning the campers?

In adition to the monastry staff, there will be 6 adults accompanying the campers (Noel Tayan, Abraham Abdallah, Jihad Haidar, Jana Bakaev, Ayman Charafeddine and Rouba Dabbagh).

What will happen in the Sahra?

In the sahra time, campers will be asked to organize it-if not-we will be singing Arabic songs and listening to Arabic music. Maybe, having special guests!
